Hello! Welcome to Lifting Shadows. My name is Jami Siddiqui. I teach Social Studies to high school students. As an undergraduate, I studied International Studies in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. My goal is to teach my high school students about many of the subjects I learned as an undergraduate: globalization, global power structures, security, foreign policy, geography, culture, foreign languages and appreciation for our world and people.
Currently, I am a graduate student in Educational Studies at the University of Washington in Bothell, WA. For the course BEDUC 476 New Literacies for Digital Learning, my classmates and I are blogging and connecting digitally. I had blogged a little in the past but I am looking forward to this amazing learning opportunity and a fresh start to 2017.
Apart from teaching high school students, being a graduate student and a mother of two beautiful young children, I am very passionate about education. More specifically, after living in Dubai for one school year and teaching at an American school, I want to share about my wonderful experience living in the Middle East, help others to understand Islam and share about unique Muslim-American authors, activists and educators who are working towards the same goal.
